Lost and Found is located high up on a large ledge in Willow Springs. It is a long scramble-y approach to get there, or you can climb something fun on the N'Plus Ultra Wall that goes all the way to the top and then hike the remaining way to Lost and Found. Lost and Found has lots of lower grade climbs, some of which are not well protected, so be sure to do your research. There is one 5.7 on the wall - Communist Plan.
We climbed Little Black Book on N'Plus Ultra, which is a fabulous 5.6 (if you go up the corner) or 5.4ish if you go up the face. Pillar Talk is a two-pitch 5.7 on N'Plus Ultra that also goes to the top. That is a fun but challenging climb (if you stay in the crack, it's easier on the face) that we rated a WTF'r for the grade. Mountain Project also has a 5.7 climb called Cereal Killer that goes to the top. That climb sucks. We rated it a What the Forget About It! |
Communist Plan
Climb: Communist Plan (trad, 80' feet)
Wall: Lost and Found
Rope Used: 70m (a minimum of a 70m is needed for the rappel down Sleeper, but you can also walk-off all the way down)
Gear: Pro to 3" single rack
Good Lead for a New Trad Climber? Probably not. It is protectable and all there, but it is an intimidating climb, especially with some crumbly rock beneath the feet.
Conclusion WTF? What the FUN! (Stef calls it Freaky-Fun!)

We both really liked this climb. It's a cool, unique climb for sure!
Scrunch up underneath the roof, then work your way out stemming to gain the roof. The world drops out from beneath you as you emerge and the exposure is pretty exhilarating. Unfortunately some of the rock beneath your feet is a bit crumbly as you work your way out, but you can protect in the crack. Getting Down: There is a walk-off option climber's left, but a mistake can send you ping-ponging down a 15-foot crevace. So, there is now a rappel station off a bush at the top of the climb. |
