SUMMARY - Wall of Death
What can we say? We are so grateful to our friends and family who believed in us. We are amazed and grateful we actually survived the Wall of Death. Rick was (barely) able to ascend "A Route No One Has Ever Survived" - since no one has yet survived it, does this mean he has a first ascent? Or maybe an FLA - first living ascent? We need to leave our mark (other than blood) on this fickle climbing world, and get credit for this monumentous, world-record-achieving task.
And, I (Stef) can now claim that I onsighted Five-Thirteen Ex, without becoming an Ex. I'm pretty fuckin' psyched about it. I've been doing so many 5.7s lately I was wondering if I'd ever break the 5.8 barrier, and now this, Five-Thirteen Ex. Fuck yeah.

Climb: A Route No One Has Ever Survived (Sport) (5.7)(1 pitch - 40') Wall: Panty Conclusion WTF? What the FEISTY! It's fun with some feisty for sure. There are definitely a couple of spots to work through - but they seem to be survivable. |
Climb: Five-Thirteen Ex (Sport) (5.7)(1 pitch - 60') Wall: Panty Conclusion WTF? What the FUN-KY! This was super fun and funky - hence FUN-KY! I LOVED this route! In fact it is probably my favorite sport climb so far on this 5.7 tour (so far Myster Z is my favorite all-time climb so far on this tour.). So many of the Red Rock 5.7 sport climbs are similar to each other - juggy patina face climbing, maybe with a sliver of slab mixed in. But this one is quite different and varied - pinches, traverse, undercling. It's damn fun. There are two anchors at the top of this climb. I climbed to the second anchor to get more out of the climb. I think the upper anchor is for the top rope "Fuzzy Bunny Slippers (5.8)." |
Hamlet
Climb: Frailty Thy Name is Sandstone (Sport) (5.7)(1 pitch - 85')
Wall: Hamlet Conclusion WTF? What the FUN! Juggy face-hold black petina fun. Mussy hooks at the top. |
Climb: Sweets to the Sweet (Sport) (5.7)(1 pitch - 85')
Wall: Hamlet Conclusion WTF? What the FUN! Juggy face-hold black petina fun. Located immediately to the right of Frailty Thy Name is Sandstone. Mussy hooks at the top. |
Climb: Undiscovered Country(Toprope) (5.7)(1 pitch - 85') Wall: Hamlet Conclusion WTF? What the FUN! The anchors can be accessed by going up the ramp near Sweets to the Sweet (basically on the terrace above the lower part of Hamlet - also called the J Wall.) Bring your own anchor materials - these are not mussy hooks (like much of Hamlet.) More juggy face-hold black petina fun. |
